Stubnitz Environmental Education Center (SEEC) is located in the City of Adrian's Heritage Park and is owned and operated by the Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD). Many donors, most notably the Dorothy and Maurice Stubnitz Foundation, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Adrian Kiwanis, Adrian Rotary, and several corporate and community sponsors, provided funds to complete the facility, which was dedicated in September 1993. Overlooking a lovely area of the Raisin River, the 5,300 square foot timberframe structure is surrounded by a wide diversity of habitats, including open meadows, woodlands, nature trails, wetlands, and a pond. The 450 acre Heritage Park is open to the public daily from dawn to dusk, with a walking trail system through the environmental study area. SEEC is owned and operated by the Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) in a partnership agreement with the City of Adrian. Seven partner organizations are represented on the SEEC Advisory Board.
